New to ESOL Teaching Practice Course (Code: C1037)
This course is an opportunity for ESOL practitioners and volunteers to work in teaching practice groups with an experienced trainer, to try out practical approaches, techniques and ideas with their learners and to share their insights and experiences. Each teaching practice group of approximately five practitioners will work with an experienced trainer who will set practical teaching tasks for each group matched to their teaching contexts and learners. Groups will meet fortnightly, for an hour, between January and March 2021, and participants will feed back and share experiences.

Who is this for?
ESOL practitioners and volunteers at all levels of qualification/experience who are currently working with New to ESOL (sometimes referred to as 'pre-entry)' ESOL learners. We will aim to match participants to contextually focussed groups (.e.g working with refugees, 1-1, secure estate, voluntary sector, etc)
Training aim
To provide participants with the opportunity to try New to ESOL focussed approaches, techniques and resources in the context of supportive and reflexive teaching practice groups with experienced trainers.
Outcomes
Increased knowledge, skills, and confidence in relation to teaching or working with New to ESOL learners
Length
Five fortnightly meetings of an hour each over 10 weeks, (Jan - March 2021) plus self-study.
Entry Requirements
Any qualification or experience level, but you should be currently working with New to ESOL learners
