Who is this for?

This session will be useful for leaders and managers who have overall responsibility for ensuring the inclusivity of their organisation and SEND provision.

Training aim

To provide professionals the opportunity to explore good practice and consider how to improve the standards within provision, and that of the wider sector, through the adoption of a framework or set of standards which provide more specific measures based upon the specification of the 2014 SEND Code of Practice.

Through the consideration of additional research professionals will be able to consider a variety of lenses through which they could evaluate their SEND provision.

Additional opportunities will be given to the initial exploration of SENCo standards to consider if these could form part of the building blocks for a set of standards for SEND Management in FE as well as those at Specialist Practitioner Level.

Outcomes

To provide and opportunity for a diverse range of professional to consider the following:

  • recognise how the SEND Code of Practice can be used as a starting point to audit the provision available to all SEND learners
  • to contribute to discussions to understand what a set of standards for SEND Managers/Specialist Practitioners in the FE sector might include
  • to share and learn from others individual challenges relating to the management of SEND provision
  • to identify further support in operational knowledge if the theme is of importance to their organisation.
