Trauma-Informed Feminist Leadership Action Learning Set (ALS) (Code: C1354)
Why trauma-informed feminist leadership?
The handling, inequalities, and increasing inequalities and impact of the pandemic have shown, current and future leaders need to be trauma-informed. Not trauma in the old heroic sense of disasters, but trauma as feminists have redefined it -calling out social beliefs about gender, class, race, disability, migrants that victim-blame and protect perpetrators.
Why action learning?
Action learning is a particularly effective way of learning how to deal with real-world problems.
This timely ALS will help you become a more trauma-informed leader.

Who is this for?
This ALS is for women who lead in all kinds of FE, skills, and lifelong learning, in all sorts of roles.
Since the pandemic began and as we face the soaring social and economic impact of its handling and as we respond to the new Omicron coronavirus variant and the return of restrictions and in-person testing for colleges in 2022 and climate crisis,
- Has your motivation dropped?
- Are you unsure how to deal with colleagues' emotions?
- Does a forthcoming Ofsted inspection feel like the final straw?
- Have you got to make difficult decisions at work but find them hard to make?
- Are you or your organisation finding it hard to respond compassionately to the pressures of the pandemic, returning to "normal" or "building back better"?
- Is ending sexual violence and harassment against women and girls too big for your organisation to tackle?
- Are you struggling to envisage a future FE?
Yes? Then this ALS is definitely for you.
This is organisational development learning. It will bring you together with a small group of women peers to work intensively together over 4-weeks in a small group.
Using action learning processes, we will focus on the things that challenge you now: the pandemic, climate change, inequalities, inspection, your leadership, your organisation, your career, your working relationships, and life.
As you learn together, you will develop your understanding of trauma, challenge each other, develop solidarity and identify solutions for challenges that previously seemed impossible.

We guarantee that if you engage fully with this action learning set you will help become a more trauma-informed leader.
Each ALS has only 10 - 12 places available.
We ask you to make the following commitments:
- Attending all four mandatory 2-hour online sessions. These are on consecutive weeks. Where possible, we've scheduled session dates to avoid holidays and times to accommodate women with caring responsibilities, for example, dropping off and picking up children from school.
- Prioritising and protecting the time in your diary to attend all four sessions.
- Using and contributing to a box-set of trauma-informed leadership resources.
- Engaging fully with your learning, your peers and the action learning process.
As an alumnae of this ALS in 2021/22 will be able to claim a free ticket to our hybrid (coronavirus restrictions permitting) #YouToo2022 annual conference and International Women's Day Celebration on Thursday 31 March 2022.
