Who is this for?

Participants will have completed a middle leadership programme such as the Education and Training Foundation's Leading From The Middle and will be established in a middle leadership role.

Colleagues may be in the position of Head of Department, Deputy Director or Assistant Principal and will be aiming to progress to a function which provides them with a place on a senior leadership team. We would expect participants to have undertaken their current roles for a good period of time and to have developed the skills and capabilities that will provide them with an excellent grounding to move into their first senior leadership role.

Training aim

To prepare participants appropriately for assuming a role in senior leadership in the Further Education and training sector.

Outcomes

1. To build the strategic abilities of the individual by considering the key developments, opportunities and challenges facing the further education and training sector.

2. To build strategic financial awareness of participants.

3. To explore contemporary thinking about the most effective ways of managing change in organisations.

4. To explore a range of senior leadership opportunities in the further education and training sector and to build an understanding of the skills and capabilities required to lead at senior level.

5. To undertake a practice assessment, selection and interview activities all focused on building awareness, techniques and confidence to succeed in a senior recruitment process.
