Promoting positive behaviours is much more realistic than "managing behaviour". 

Learners react and respond not only to events as they occur but also to their interpretation of events based on past experience. By creating curriculum contexts and learning environments that anticipate this and plan to develop new and positive exeriences through communication, adjustment and mutual respect benefits educators and learners alike.

Who is this for?

For practitioners who wish to understand the difference between managing behaviour and promoting positive behaviours, and who want to creative positive and inclusive curriculum learning environments where all learners feel that they belong.

Training aim

For participants to understand that promoting positive behaviour is more effective than attempting, and often failing, to manage individual behaviours.

They will also have an opportunity to explore why this is both more respectful and inclusive of all individuals.

Outcomes

  1. Identify the difference between managing behaviour and promoting positive behaviours.
  2. Recognise how promoting positive behaviour respects and accommodates individual difference.
  3. Recognise how purpose-driven interventions are more inclusive and effective in developing positive behaviour in classroom communities
