Who is this course for?
This course will be suitable for a range of staff that support learners to develop maths skills, including learning support assistants, workplace assessors, progress tutors, union learning reps, and learning resource centre staff.
This course aims to help you identify when learners need additional help with their understanding of number, geometry and trigonometry and provide effective support that develops their skills. You can book it on its own or as part of the wider course Supporting learners effectively in maths.
This course will enable you to:
- Identify how number, geometry and trigonometry fit into the maths curriculum
- Explore methods for assessing learner progress and provide effective feedback through coaching
- Help learners develop independent mastery of number, geometry and trigonometry.
Length of the course
This module can be delivered on a standalone basis over four hours, or combined with other modules in the Supporting learners effectively in maths course and delivered over a number of sessions.
You will need to take a module on Foundation Online Learning covering this area prior to the start of the course.
