Who is this course for?
This course will be suitable for a range of staff that support learners to develop English skills, including learning support assistants, workplace assessors, progress tutors, union learning reps, and learning resource centre staff.
This course aims to help you identify when learners need additional help with their reading and speaking skills and provide effective support that develops their abilities. You can book it on its own or as part of the wider course Supporting learners effectively in English.
This course will enable you to:
- identify how reading and speaking skills fit into the English curriculum
- explore methods for assessing learner progress and provide effective feedback through coaching
- help learners develop independent mastery of reading and speaking.
Length of the course
This module can be delivered on a standalone basis over 4 hours, or combined with other modules in the Supporting learners effectively in English course and delivered over a number of sessions.
You will need to take a module on Foundation Online Learning covering this area prior to the start of the course.
