Maths and English Pipeline

Developing the maths skills of learners remains a key challenge for providers, and learning support staff have a big role to play. This course is make up of four modules. It will develop the confidence, knowledge and skills of those supporting learners to help them understand clearly what learners need to know - and how to support them in developing it. Based on brand-new research, the four modules offer a blended learning approach for maximum impact.

Delegates can book individual places at £150 (or £127.50 for SET members). This represents a 25% discount on booking the modules individually.

As a provider you can host the course yourself with as few as 8 delegates for £825, or £1185 if you wish to include just your own staff.

Who is this course for?

This course will be suitable for a range of staff that support learners to develop maths skills, including learning support assistants, workplace assessors, progress tutors, union learning reps, and learning resource centre staff.

Training aim

This course is comprised of four modules, designed to help support learners with their:

  • algebra and measure
  • number, geometry and trigonometry
  • probability and statistics.
It will also help support assistants build effective partnerships with their teacher.


This course will enable you to:

  • identify the key skills of the maths curriculum
  • explore methods for assessing learner progress and provide effective feedback through coaching
  • help learners develop independent mastery of essential concepts.

Length of the course

This course comprises 4 four-hour modules with additional online support:

  • algebra and measure
  • number, geometry and trigonometry
  • probability and statistics
  • working with your teacher.

Entry Requirements

You will need to take a module on Foundation Online Learning covering this area prior to the start of the course.
