Who is this course for?
This course is for all learning support assistants and the teachers that they work with.
This course aims to establish a shared understanding of teachers' and support assistants' respective roles, to develop mutual respect and to facilitate constructive relationships within the classroom.
- use effective communication and teamwork within a range of contexts and structured interventions
- identify how to work effectively with lesson plans and how structured interventions fit with schemes of work, including how a TA adds value to what a teacher does
- give effective and appropriate feedback to the teachers regarding student needs and their progress as well as how they are responding to the lesson, materials and levels of challenge
- develop effective ways of working with a range of student needs and working with teachers to give feedback as to their next steps.
Length of the course
This module can be delivered on a standalone basis over four hours, or combined with other modules in the Supporting learners effectively in English course or the Supporting learners effectively in maths course and delivered over a number of sessions.
