- Work in an organisation in one of the 12 opportunity areas (Blackpool, Bradford, Derby, Doncaster, Fenland and East Cambridgeshire, Hastings, Ipswich, Norwich, Oldham, Scarborough, Stoke, West Somerset)
- Work in an organisation with an annual turnover of less than £500,000
- Consider yourself to have a disability

To book a free place find a course that has free places remaining and book as normal. At the payments stage of the booking you will be asked to tell us which of the three criteria you meet and then click on the 'recalculate' button to reduce the cost of the booking to zero.
If, for whatever reason, you are unable to attend, please advise us at least one week before the course takes place. This will allow us to offer the free place to someone else who works in the FE sector, so they can take advantage of this offer.

Who is this for?
Practitioners working in the education and skills sector who are:
- teaching Functional Skills maths or English
- teaching GCSE maths or English
- supporting learners' maths or English skills in vocational contexts
- learning coaches, mentors or support assistants.
To provide teachers and support staff with tools to transform their classroom culture & practice by:
- raising awareness of the impact of their actions on learners' attitudes, beliefs & behaviour
- developing coaching techniques - including active listening, questioning & feeding back
- using these techniques to engage, challenge & support maths & English learners.
You will have the knowledge and confidence to:
- identify the key principles of coaching
- identify different levels of listening & consider which are most appropriate for a coaching approach
- use powerful coaching-style questions within their maths & English teaching practice
- apply the GROW model of questioning to challenge & support learners
- understand the impact of the teacher's actions on learners' attitudes & identify how they might modify their behaviour
- use non-judgmental feedback techniques to promote growth mindsets
- develop the use of peer-coaching as a teaching & learning strategy.
