Please join us at Activate Learning's Reading College Campus as we showcase our Award Winning Learning Companies. The session will provide opportunities for cross-sector businesses and Further Education and Training providers to hear from an award- winning business programme developed to support learners with gaining the attributes needed to sustain employment in the workplace.

Subsidised Places
For Department for Education (DfE) funded courses there is a limited number of places offered to participants fully subsided. The fully subsidised places are fully funded by the DfE, the participant and / or their provider pay £0. These places are offered to ensure greater diversity on high quality CPD. To qualify the participant must either:
- Consider themself to have a disability.
- Come from black or minority ethnic community.
- Work in an organisation with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.

Training aim
- To provide insight into how our award winning Learning Companies offer a supported environment to young adults with SEND to develop their employability skills.
- To showcase our Learning Companies in action and offer a visual insight into the support that we offer learners to promote access to the workplace.
- To increase engagement with progression opportunities for learners with SEND in the workplace.
- To demonstrate how we track student progression in the Learning Companies and how this can be used to produce effective targets that further learner development.
- To increase the engagement of employers in work placements and paid employment opportunities for young people
• To model features of effective curriculum design for learners with SEND.
Outcomes
• Develop understanding of the barriers to young people with SEND entering employment from both an educators and employers prospective.
• To demonstrate examples of effective partnership between employers and our own practices.
• Increase understanding of challenges faced by employers who wish to offer supported employment opportunities to young people.
• To increase engagement with employers from a range of industries
• To discuss with employers the ways in which individuals with SEND can benefit from being in the workplace.
• Gain a better understanding of the attributes needed by learners with SEND to be able to successfully access the workplace.
• To discuss with employers how they can be supported to better facilitate learners with SEND in the workplace.
Length
2 hours including an optional networking opportunity, light refreshments, tour of the learning companies and presentation.
