This course is for practitioners delivering GCSE maths; some elements will be useful for those delivering Functional Skills maths and for vocational staff delivering courses with a high degree of mathematical content.
Training aim
To provide you with a range of strategies and activities to engage maths learners to use numbers and perform calculations in different forms.
Outcomes
On this course you will:
- investigate a range of methodologies you can use to support learners in their understanding of using and manipulating numbers
- explore activities around negative numbers, indices and standard form and the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percentages
- consider rich, collaborative tasks and expose and discuss misconceptions
- reflect upon how you might use these activities and approaches in your own teaching.
