Mental Health and Wellbeing (Code: C1560)

This programme will create space for leaders to reflect on and share their journey towards self-awareness and positive mental health.
Each of the three webinars will showcase two FE leaders or managers, in partnership with a leading sector organisation related to the conversation theme. Following a “talking heads” presentation, the session will move into breakout conversations to continue the discussion with our guest speakers and share experience with peers in these smaller groups.

Must be from a publicly funded FE provider in England.

Training aim

The aim of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme is to support all FE leaders and managers to embed humanistic cultures within their organisations, addressing some of the emerging issues that are impacting students and staff.

Outcomes

Webinar 1: FE leaders will talk candidly about their experience of supporting a workforce experiencing collective trauma, sharing how they balance the need to look after themselves and the responsibility for supporting a healthy workforce and happy student body. This will be followed by a presentation on services available to support FE leaders.

Webinar 2: Two FE managers will share their experience of how they are responding to student trauma, whilst addressing their own needs, and the needs of their teams. Charlie Waller Memorial Trust will present on the national picture and how they have been working with FE.

Webinar 3: FE leaders and a national organisation (TBC) will talk about the partnership between education and health, addressing some of the systemic challenges, as well as opportunities to support wholistic and accessible support for students. A consideration that with the right support, our learning communities can be “mentally wealthy”, not poor.
