Who is this for?

This event is for the further education (FE) community, and anyone with an interest in supporting people with VI into a career.

Training aim

By attending this session, attendees will gain insight into strategies and inclusive practice from VI charity Thomas Pocklington Trust, that can be implemented to ensure that learners with VI get the right transition, learning environment and work experience opportunities.

Outcomes

At this session, attendees will:

  • Explore the different types of visual impairment and their impact on individuals today
  • Understand how to interpret specialist reports from specialists and how to apply recommendations
  • Learn what a 'good transition' looks like for your learners with VI
  • Understand how to create and enable a positive environment in your setting including accessible learning, technology and access arrangements for learners
  • Identify strategies for engaging with work experience or opportunities of work for learners with VI.
