Empowering Learners with SEND for Higher Education: Navigating Support, Resources, and Transition Strategies (Code: C1776)

In this session, facilitated by Oldham College, attendees will learn more about supporting learners with SEND to move into higher education (HE): the support learners with SEND need, the support that is available to them, and the actions further education (FE) providers can take to prepare learners for transitioning into both residential and non-residential HE.

Who is this for?

This session is for all FE practitioners, and anyone working with learners with SEND to support their transition to HE.

Training aim

The training aim of this session is to outline how FE providers can inspire high aspirations for learners with education, health and care plans (EHCPs), and to facilitate and support a positive transition experience for learners with SEND to university/higher education institutions (HEI) and beyond.

Outcomes

You will gain the knowledge and confidence required to prepare a young person for the challenges of Higher Education, support them through the UCAS process, and help them successfully transition as their EHCP comes to an end.
