Practical strategies for motivating and engaging learners with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and LLD (Code: C1779)
This session, facilitated by Natspec will:
- Provide opportunities to learn about national driver for supporting young people
- Hear the experience of a young person and learn how to develop relationships with young people in difficulty
- Understand and have time to analyse the experience of two colleges and review your own practice in relation to support available locally

Who is this for?
The session is for college practitioners, college managers, leads of student services, learning support managers and learning support assistants . The focus will be on allowing time to understand your own practice but develop practical strategies from what you learn on the day.
Training aim
The aim of the session is to develop skills to recognise indicators of need and to develop the use of practical strategies.
Outcomes
By the end of the session, you will have the confidence and knowledge to be able to recognise changes in behaviours that may reflect the benefits of a trauma informed approach with young people. You will understand the tenets of the thrive approach and you will be introduced to the zones of regulation and be able to identify what ‘colour’ you are today!
You will also have time to discuss with colleague's local context and support that is available through health services.
