Community of Practice: Mental health and SEND - Practical strategies for creating an inclusive environment for learners with Autism and mental health needs (Code: C1781)

This Natspec-run community of practice brings together professionals working with learners with SEND from across the FE sector. We will be facilitating discussions on topics related to understanding and supporting learners who have difficulty regulating their behaviours. Topics include, understanding what self-regulating behaviours look like, and how to identify triggers and appropriate strategies . Together, with examples of good practice and professionals from across the specialist sector sharing their knowledge, we can produce realistic, workable solutions to current provision challenges.

Who is this for?

This Community of Practice will be of interest to a variety of people with many role jobs from SEND leaders and managers to curriculum leaders, transition managers, learning support managers and their teams as well as teaching staff and therapists.  

Training aim

This Community of Practice will run over the course of the year and includes:  

  • Invitation to join a community sharing information and resources through Padlet    
  • Networking opportunities      
  • Communication with others  
  • Participation in themed group discussions of your choice  
  • Advice and guidance  
  • Collaboration with experts  
  • Sharing of good practice/ tools and resources

Outcomes

By joining this Community of Practice, you will share effective practice and be part a network of practitioners working together to improve outcomes for learners with SEND.   

Length

Over the course of the year, you will be offered the opportunity to join several online meetings. Members of the community of practice will be able to chat to one another, share tools and resources, seek advice, and ask questions at the online sessions and using our dedicated Padlet.
