Within your SEND provision, practical strategies to work effectively with your classroom learning support (Code: C1793)
This session, facilitated by Natspec will introduce participants to a range of strategies to enable you to work cohesively with your support staff. In turn this will support learners to participate in an effective, challenging, and creative curriculum.
There will be opportunities to hear from an outstanding college about their approach to a curriculum that empowers their learners and from parents and staff at another provider who have seen the impact this approach can have.

Training aim
This training is intended to provide information to further education colleges who are interested and can see the importance of working collaboratively with their support teams for learners with SEND.

We will start with identifying a range of strategies already in use in colleges to encourage collaborative working

We will look at a range of needs learners may have that will need support
First steps
We will discuss and consider new strategies for working together and how these can be implemented
Potential Barriers
We will identify the potential barriers to collaborative working with support staff
Preparing for Adulthood
We will highlight the preparing for adulthood (PFA) outcomes and the specific support needed to ensure success for learners
Benefits
We will explore the benefits of working together for the best outcomes for learners and create a list of strategies to implement
Outcomes
You will have the knowledge and confidence to:
- Discuss and identify a range of strategies already in use in colleges to encourage collaborative working that may work in your setting
- Identify learners’ needs for support and how strategies may match needs
- Identify potential problems and how these can be overcome
Length
The session will be 1 hour and 15 minutes, delivered in an online session.
