  • 1 x 60 min Flagship speaker
  • 2 x 30 min ‘teach meet’ networks providing a supportive community of practice

Who is this for?

This course is aimed at brand new educators (new to sector, new to education) to support those beginning a teaching role, through the initial few weeks and months.

This course is suitable for those working in the Further Education sector and the wider sector including Adult Education, Independent Training Providers, Offender education etc.

Training aim

  • Showcases different go-to teaching strategies & take aways that can provide a foundation for classroom practice
  • Equips participants with the knowledge, confidence and resources needed to step into their roles as educators
  • Compliments current teaching qualifications
  • Provides a supportive introduction to the sector and the teaching role

Outcomes

There are four core modules in this programme focusing on:

  • My Learners 
  • My Self
  • My Learning Environment 
  • My Teaching 

Each core module is designed to: 

  • Focus on the role of teaching from a different perspective
  • ‘Deconstruct’ the complexity of the teaching role
  • Provide a supportive introduction to those new to the sector

Sessions will take place online on Thursdays between 4pm and 5.30pm:

  • 7th November 2024 - Introduction to the FES sector
  • 14th November 2024 - Module 1: My Learners
  • 21st November 2024 - Module 2: My Self
  • 28th November 2024 - Leading sector expert sSpeaker & Teach Meet
  • 5th December 2024 - Module 3: My Learning Environment
  • 12th December 2024 - Module 4: My Teaching
  • 9th January 2025 - My professional journey, next steps & Teach Meet 

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements but this course is intended to support those colleagues who have very recently joined the Futher Education & Skills sector in a teaching or instructional role. 

This course is intended to enhance and work alongside existing in-house inductions and mentoring programmes.
