Course Summary

This course helps ESOL teachers boost learner engagement and motivation through purposeful lesson planning and high-impact activities. It focuses on avoiding grammar overload and creating lessons that are interactive, contextualised and cognitively accessible. Participants explore teaching paradigms, cognitive load theory and constructive alignment, then apply these to starters, retrieval tasks, formative assessment and activities integrating all four skills. Delivered by ESOL specialists, it supports teachers to refresh their practice and plan more engaging sessions from start to finish.
