Graphs in Maths (Code: C1519)
BackThe Chief Examiner highlights that there appears to be little understanding of the relationship between equation and graph, between graphs, parallel lines, or finding an equation from a straight-line graph. Linear and quadratic graphs are important as they represent connections between variables.
This interactive course will explore activities that you can use with learners to develop their understanding and solve linear graphs, recognise and interpret graphical quadratic equations and solve everyday contexts represented by graphs.

This course is for teachers and other practitioners delivering GCSE maths in the Further Education and Training sector. However, it may also be of interest to those teaching T levels with a substantial mathematical component.
Training aim
The aim of this course is to provide you with strategies and activities for teaching linear and quadratic graphs so you can support learners develop a deeper understanding of the properties of graphs, both graphically and algebraically.
Outcomes
On this course, you will:
- explore activities around the graphs of linear functions
- investigate the graphs of quadratic curves using online graphing software
- interpret graphs representing real-life contexts
- reflect upon how you will use these activities and approaches in your own teaching.
