Leading for the Middle - Landex is the FE and Skills sector's high impact development programme for sector middle managers in Land-based colleges. With a focus on the skills, behaviours, competencies and awareness to succeed in middle leadership and management roles, this programme adopts an innovative and personalised approach to improving the professional effectiveness of this important tier of sector leadership.

Subsidised Places
For Department for Education (DfE) funded courses there is a limited number of places offered to participants fully subsided. The fully subsidised places are fully funded by the DfE, the participant and / or their provider pay £0. These places are offered to ensure greater diversity on high quality CPD. To qualify the participant must either:
- Consider themself to have a disability.
- Come from black or minority ethnic community.
- Work in an organisation with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.

Who is this for?
Middle managers from land-based colleges. Colleagues with responsibility for curriculum, learning, operations and business support are welcome. Expectations on the programme are high and managers will need to commit fully to it. You will need the support internally from a senior manager and be able to work independently throughout the programme.
Training aim
The aim of the programme is to increase the confidence, skills and knowledge of managers.
Outcomes
Objectives:
- extend the range of leadership and management skills, knowledge and experience to help middle managers/leaders carry out their current role more effectively.
- prepare middle leaders for the next steps in their management career enhancing succession planning within a sector that embraces Land based programmes.
- provide a forum for middle leaders to network and share current practices, thinking and challenges in a Land based context.
In addition to the specific learning outcomes detailed below for each block delegates will be able to:
- Determine and apply a range of management and leadership theories to enhance your leadership and management practise
- Reflect on your strengths and areas for development in your role as a leader and manager
- Model leadership through continued networking and collaboration to sustain and enhance future practice

Entry Requirements
Colleagues in middle leadership roles with responsibility and accountability for a functional area or curriculum department and the performance of a team. Managers will need to have sign off from a senior manager in order to be accepted onto the course. Landex will be in touch with you to ensure they obtain this before acceptence onto the course.
