Why Learners with Autism need a Dual Curriculum (Code: C1681)

The autism provision at Weston College is a key feature in promoting an inclusive learning environment. In order to achieve this we need to acknowledge that the education of individuals with autism must be broader than for their non autistic peers and provide ‘a dual curriculum’. This duality encompasses academia and/or training with learning about the social world. As autism practitioners we have high ambitions and aspirations for all students, recognising the importance of empowering & enabling students with autism to develop skills which promote their independence.
