Visit to Weston College's Unique Training Facilities to Support Learners with Autism (Code: C1682)

The visit will demonstrate the effectiveness of a residential training facility for autistic individuals. See first-hand the impact this has by meeting with the students who access it alongside autism specialist practitioners and mentors. The development of a residential component to the autism provision at Weston College acknowledged that the education of individuals with autism must be broader than for their non-autistic peers and highlighted the need to provide ‘a dual curriculum’. This duality encompasses academia and/or training with learning about the social world.
