Developing an Alternative Classroom to Reduce NEET Learners in Your Area (Code: C1695)
Reducing the number of NEET learners in your area requires a multi-pronged approach that involves addressing the underlying causes that lead to young people disengaging from education and work. At Weston College we have developed an alternative classroom that provides a supportive and engaging learning environment that meets the needs of young people who are at risk of becoming NEET.
Who is this for?
Professionals interested in developing inclusive learner-centred approaches.
- Identifying the needs of NEETs
- Designing individualised curriculum
- Creating supportive and inclusive learning environments
- Creating an alternative classroom
- Engagement and school links
- Trauma-informed approach
To gain an understanding of how the alternative curriculum ensures opportunities that allow learners to practice a range of skills in a real-life environment and gain a sense of achievement. To understand how all activities and projects involve a trauma-informed approach to promoting positive mental health. How connecting with nature in this way can have positive physical and mental health benefits, impacting and improving the life chances and future employment opportunities for young people.
